POLYGONAL SPINET (modern
denomination: virginal pentagonal) Is a virginal built according to the Italian
school in the Veneto in 1632.
AUTHOR: according to Luigi
Ferdinando Tagliavini and John Henry go der Meer that are respectively owner
and curator of the collection that carries the name
from the first one who is also professor
of organ and key in the university of Bologna, the author should be Francesco
Poggio but is signed, supposedly
Latinized as was usual at the time,
Francescus Pogizio Venetus 1632.
CHARACTERISTIC: a manual with
base of eight feet with a play of cords and
extension Do-fa3 with eighth cuts.
DIMENSIONS: Long: 148,5 cm. Wide: 51 cm. High: 20,5 cm.
COMPLEMENTS: external box of pine
painted according tothe style XVIII because of instruments,
flowers and birds, with cover painted internally to the original style of the
instrument with a scene with nymphs and shield of the family Médici
and craft hardware,
WOODS: harmonic Board, sides and
moldings of ciprés, bridges and pins of walnut, fund and structure of
pine.
